Griffin Studios Methods

GRIFFIN STUDIOS is based in Weymouth, Dorset (UK)

Wherever possible we design and create everything ourselves (on-site if possible) and we are experienced in a wide range of sculpture and finishing techniques, including carving, modeling, mold-making, casting, painting, gilding.

Artworks can be made in a variety of materials including; stone, wood, bronze, glass, Perspex, Jesmonite, slate, ceramic.

Depending upon the project we will offer advice re materials which are have the relevant safety requirements (structural strength, fire safety, etc) and provide suitable design so as to minimize weather (and/or human) damage.

As well as having over 25 years of training and experience in fine-art design and traditional craft skills we compliment this by using computer aided design and machinery alongside traditional tools and techniques.

Griffin Studios has a fully equipped CAD/CAM facility that includes CNC, laser engraving and 3D scanning machines.

As well as being an exciting method of designing and producing art this means that we are ideally suited for working in the modern design environment where it is essential for an artist to be able to quickly and easily collaborate with architects, interior designers and engineers.

We are able to offer quality bespoke fine-art to precise dimensions, using a variety of appropriate materials.

Where we are different from other artists is that we are experienced in both fine-art AND modern CAD/CAM skills. Often we are able to use a combination of both very low-tech and high-tech methods to produce quite complicated objects at a fraction of the costs of using conventional method, either from a traditional artistic or purely CAM/CAM environment.
